About TCTMD

TCTMD is the most comprehensive on-line resource in interventional cardiology and provides indepth coverage of the percutaneous treatment of cardiovascular disease. Since its launch at TCT 2000, TCTMD has provided clinicians and industry professionals myriad ways to keep up-to-date in the ever-evolving field, including news and data from conferences hosted around the world as well as information about the latest devices and drugs used in the daily practice of cardiovascular medicine. 

TCTMD is produced and administered by the Cardiovascular Research Foundation (CRF).  CRF's mission is to strive to improve the quality of life for patients with cardiovascular disease. The organization's goal is to advance the development and use of safe and effective minimally invasive cardiovascular treatments. Subscription to TCTMD is free through completion of a registration form found at www.tctmd.com/register.aspx.  The majority of funding for TCTMD is derived from unrestricted sponsorships and grants from medical device and pharmaceutical companies.


Management

Gary S. Mintz, MD serves as Medical Director and Editor-in-Chief of TCTMD. He is also the Chief Medical Officer at the Cardiovascular Research Foundation.  Dr. Mintz is a pioneer and a recognized authority in the field of intravascular ultrasound.

Previously, Dr. Mintz served as the Director of the Coronary Ultrasound Program and of the Cardiovascular Training and Education Center at the Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC. His prior university employment included Professor of Medicine (Likoff Cardiovascular Institute) and Associate Professor of Diagnostic Radiology at Hahnemann University. His responsibilities at Hahnemann University included Director of the Cardiac Ultrasound Laboratory, Director of the Coronary Care Unit, Director of the Cardiology Fellowship Program, senior attending physician, and senior interventional cardiologist.

Dr. Mintz completed medical school, internship and residency, and his cardiology fellowship at Hahnemann Medical College and Hahnemann University Hospital.


Joshua D. Hartman is Managing Editor of TCTMD and Director of the Web Sites Department at the Cardiovascular Research Foundation.  Josh has been managing TCTMD for several years and has been with the web site since its inception in 2000 first as an employee of Clinsights, Inc. and then Pharmaceutical Product Development Inc.  (PPD).  Josh helped design and develop the web site leading to its launch at the TCT conference in September 2000. Once launched, Josh’s responsibilities focused on content development and management.  In October 2005, Josh became Managing Editor of TCTMD and Director of the Online Marketing & Education Department at PPD with overall responsibility for the staff and business including revenue generation, web site development and content management.

Prior to working at Clinsights and PPD, Josh was a Senior Consultant at Deloitte in the Integrated Health Group. There he assisted payers (insurance companies, employers and the federal government) and providers (physicians, hospitals, and academic medical centers) in developing programs to provide strategic planning on medical specialty programs and centers of excellence. Josh also works as a paramedic in the New York City 911 system providing advanced life support through the New York Presbyterian Hospital system.

Josh received his undergraduate degrees from New York University and received his Paramedic certification through St. Vincent’s Hospital, New York City – Manhattan Campus.



Editorial Staff

Jason Kahn is News Editor of TCTMD and Manager of Academic Content in the Editorial Services Department of the Cardiovascular Research Foundation (CRF). Jason brings with him over 15 years of medical editorial experience. He began his career writing for Clinical Laboratory News, a publication for clinical chemists, before moving to the Medical Tribune, where he advanced from daily reporter to Editor in Chief. After five years at Med Trib, Jason helped found a medical web site, Oncology.com, serving as Editor in Chief. Before coming to CRF, Jason served as Managing Editor for a group of physician web sites in different subspecialties ranging from anesthesiology to rheumatology. He received his undergraduate degree in communications from the University of Michigan and his Masters in Journalism from NYU’s Science and Environmental Reporting Program.


Caitlin E. Cox is Associate News Editor of TCTMD and Medical Writer and Editor in the Editorial Services Department of the Cardiovascular Research Foundation. Caitlin began her career in the sciences as a research technician at Tufts University’s Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging. She earned her Master’s in Journalism from NYU’s Science and Environmental Reporting Program in 2005. Since then, she has written for a variety of publications, including The Christian Science Monitor and MAMM, and has worked in communications at NYU Medical Center. Just prior to arriving at CRF, she spent a year as a freelance medical journalist in New Delhi, India.


Kim Dalton is Associate News Editor of TCTMD and Medical Writer and Editor in the Editorial Services Department of the Cardiovascular Research Foundation. He developed an understanding of a variety of medical fields working as a writer and/or editor at health-related publications including Self, Longevity, Health Monitor, and Oncology.com. He has a special interest in molecular biology and genetics.


L.A. McKeown is Associate News Editor of TCTMD and Medical Writer and Editor in the Editorial Services Department of the Cardiovascular Research Foundation. Laura has over 20 years of experience as a clinical and consumer medical writer working for many publications, websites and organizations including Medical Tribune, WebMD, MSNBC, Reuters Health, the American Lung Association, the North American Menopause Society and New York Medical College. In addition, she has extensive experience in medical education, including serving as Managing Editor of a series of patient education videos under former U.S. Surgeon General C. Everett Koop, MD. She earned a BS in Journalism and Mass Media from Rutgers University.
